Iris Compiet is an award winning artist and Illustrator from the Netherlands. She studied at the University of Art in Breda, where she graduated with honors. Since then she thrives as an artist and illustrator, serving clients across the globe. Iris enjoys working on projects ranging from picture books to gallery art and even concept art for films. Her work has been juried into art annuals such as Infected by Art and Spectrum and has been exhibited in countless galleries around the world.
Storytelling is an essential part of her artwork. As an artist she strives to seduce the spectators, she wants them to really engage, to make a connection to the work and open a gateway to their own imagination.
As for the medium she favors the traditional kind. But depending on the story that needs to be told, she will choose a medium that translates best. Recently she started exploring a world called the Faultlines, a new realm filled with faerie creatures which resulted in a very successful Kickstarter campaign to publish the book Faeries of the Faultlines.
Drawing inspiration from European folklore, mythology, fairytales, ghost stories, tombstones, Victorian photography, popular movies and music, Iris explores the depths of darkness to find the light.
