Kolet Janssen (Hasselt, Belgium, 1955) has a degree in religious studies and worked as a teacher for many years, but since 2006 she spends all her time writing, giving workshops and delivering lectures. She writes stories about strange phenomena, tense family matters and frighteningly funny themes. She also writes non-fiction books about religion and society. In her workshops and lectures at schools and libraries she talks about authorship, reads from her work and explains the growth process of a book. Together with the children she looks for the components of a good story, sometimes with added writing exercises. She takes the knowledge and experiences of the children as her starting point, and always puts dialogue first.
