Kathleen Amant (1969, Aalst - Belgium) studied Applied Arts at the Academy of Ghent. She used to draw illustrations to be printed on t-shirts for children and she was designer at Het Nieuwsblad (a well-known Belgian newspaper), Streeknieuws (local newspaper) and the Stipkrant (cartoon paper). At the moment she works as a completely independent and self-employed illustrator and designer of toddler’s books. She is also the domestic designer of Kind en Gezin (Child and Family).
In 2004 Kathleen started with her successful series of toddler books around Anna, an adventurous and slightly naughty toddler. The Anna stories are very recognizable for toddlers, emotions are emphasized and they always contain a humorous flavour. The drawings are warm of colour and sober of image which make them very appealing for the youngest readers.
Kathleen’s children, Din, Arend and Noa are her biggest source of inspiration.
